Job Purpose |
|||
To prepare and review the Commission’s legal cases, instruments, and documents and, conduct research to provide advice that protects the Commission’s interests in particular the Commission’s licensing mandate. |
|||
Primary Tasks and Responsibilities |
|||
1. Conduct research and provide legal opinions on issues relating to the Commission’s operations. 2. Represent the Commission in court cases which are not sourced to external lawyers. 3. Prepare contracts/agreements, legal documents/instruments arising out of the operations of the Commission. 4. Provide input into proposed regulatory frameworks and Guidelines as deemed necessary for the effective regulation of the sector. 5. Correspond with license applicants regarding their license application processes. 6. Participate in the review and negotiations of licenses, agreements, and processes leading to the resolution of disputes. 7. Prepare management papers for license applications for publication in the national print media. 8. Provide input into proposed regulatory frameworks and Guidelines as deemed necessary for the effective regulation of the sector. 9. Conduct performance appraisals diligently and comprehensively for subordinate staff, ensuring thorough evaluation of their individual contributions, achievements, and areas for improvement. |

1. License applications revised. 2. Number of litigation cases won or resolved favorably. 3. TAT to review and finalize contracts. 4. Time taken to respond to and resolve regulatory investigations. 5. Compliance with corporate governance standards. |

Education and Professional Qualifications |
|||
· Master’s degree in law · Bachelor’s degree in law · Postgraduate Diploma in legal practice; and an enrolled advocate of the High Court of Uganda |

Working Experience |
|||
Minimum of four (4) years experience in legal practice in a similar corporate setting. |
